Socks Finished!

I feel like these took me forever, but they only took me a little over a week doing bits here and there.  I'm quite happy with the results.

Socks

No 2nd sock syndrome for me!  The worst thing about socks is you have to make 2.  Not if you do half of one, then start another!  I'm working these socks in the Turkish style, except from the cuff down.

Ramadan, Eid, Sickness and Health?

Yes, I know.  But I have a reason so you can't be angry that its been THIS long since I've posted anything on this blog.  To begin with around (and before) Ramadan my grandmother was very sick and my aunty and I took it in turns to look after her, she had a really bad fall and started bleeding and I was absolutely pedantic so I couldnt leave her.  Anyway thank God she's all better and back to cooking now, but i still go there once a week to check on her.

Ramadan was good this year, lucky we didnt fast during daylight savings this year, and lucky for us also it was mostly cold so fasting was easy.  I spent almost every day out of the house either eating at my grandmas or eating at someones house or whatever.  Ramadans all about people coming together, so there were hardly any times that we were at home, except to sleep of course!

Eid was also good, I'm pretty certain I put back on the 2kg that I had lost, but thats to be expected.

Then after all that I thought I'd go back to my routine of working on the order for my friend (which I was told I could take my time on, but I feel bad) and just some other little things for a cousin of mine whos pregnant and having a baby girl in november, so i whipped up a couple of things for her (which I can't show on here because I know she reads my blog posts :P)  Apart from that I think everything can go back to normal now, so it shouldn't be too long before I post another blogpost again.  Oh and just before I go, I've added some new items (mainly turkish slippers and some baby items) to my etsy store if you would like to check it out, then click here.

Hope all who read this are doing well.  Until the next blogpost, Peace! xx

Knitting and Crochet Patterns

So isn't it really annoying when you're looking for something specific and you have to go to 1000 websites just to find what you want?  Well for those of you who don't know, you don't have to!

Theres 2 pattern sites I swear by, even if its not for a pattern, even if its just for an idea!  They're all categorized so the only searching you'll be doing is ON the actual sight!  However, if you'd rather follow a pattern by a chart (which is me, but you know...we learn to adapt) then I suggest looking for them in another language like French, Arabic Whatever.  It seems that English patterns are almost always written, whilst European/Asian countries prefer a chart.  Anyway, here are the links:

Knitting. My Arch-Nemesis.

Lets be honest..It looks nice, it keeps you warm, but its a drainer and if you dont know it well enough, you waste 3 hours on something you just have to undo.  I hate knitting.  Atleast with a crochet hook you can hold the stitches without them falling off when you're about to make a stitch.  When I say I hate knitting, I mean I hate the act of knitting, not the finished product.  So I decided to indulge in knitting as usually I like to atleast say I can do it and then just not do it unless I need to.  I bought a pair of circular needles a while back and just discovered them stashed in the bottom of one of the many bags of hoarded items I have.  I remember trying to knit on them the first time and not understanding why that long annoying cord kept bending back and twisting my stitches, I knew that 5dpn knitting was hard but this was something else!  So I ended up throwing them over in the corner but then being the stubborn person I am I decided to look at a couple of youtube videos to get a basic idea of how to knit toe-up socks on ONE CIRCULAR needle (as online you cant find many patterns that just use one circular needle, they use two to get two socks at a time, but they dont really take into consideration that maybe you dont want to do that?)  So heres the video I started watching (theres I think 8 in total, but it really got my head around the how whole circular needle thing works)

Final Stages of the Baby Order.

Heres the final stages of the baby order.  I still have the Igne Oyasi border on the Bohca to finish (4 more motifs to go I think) and then just the rest of the booties. I'm very happy with the result.
