So last night I decided to make an oya flower since I hadn't made one for so long. The only bad thing is that because I only have a smaller size nylon thread, it took a long time to work up the outer pink tube. But anyway I dont think I'll have a use for it, I might embroider stem stitches and then lead them to the flower? I dont know. I dont even know if theres even a flower that looks like this i kind of just made it up lol.
These are some flat oyas I made last night aswel just out of boredom. I'll probably add to it and make an example of flowers I know how to make, maybe I can use it as an example for people to pick to put on scarves they want done, or something else, I dont know..what would you use them for??

thanks wendy!!
Well, that explains why it's so hard to find out anything about Oya. There's more now than when I looked a few years ago but information is still not all that easy to find. Thanks!
Theres books out there, Gina, but very hard to find sometimes so I've read. I was lucky to have a Turkish partner with a mother in law with a worlds worth of knowledge in all areas of Turkish craft. Thankyou for leaving a comment and I hope my future posts spark inspiration and admiration for you. Enjoy your day :)
I love it . I do oya work myself and its beautiful! www.sydnejo.etsy.com
I love your work and as a beginner at Oya knotted lace I hope that one day I will be able to make one such flower, at this stage I am just starting to get my knots to knot properly

Sydneyjo- Thankyou for your kind comments, I had a look at your store and you have some lovely items!
Joy- Hello from a fellow Australian! I have a few videos on youtube that might help you with your Oya, and I also sell some patterns on Ravelry and Etsy for mainly crochet oya, but theres one on etsy that is a needle lace technique. I plan to put more up but at the moment I'm busy with a whole lot of other things so I don't have the time to be writing up tutorials! But I hope in the near future to be doing that. Good luck with your endeavors! I hope to hear from you soon.
